Microsoft says the new editor has been built on the same shared core with Visual Studio on Windows, so the coding experience will be identical, but it will continue to have an interface that matches the native macOS design.Since it only runs on Widows machines a workaround would be to create a partition on your Mac using Boot Campso you can install Windows to run Visual Basic.

The VS2013 version is the best and has a lot of fixed bugs. If you already have VS 2010, VS 2012, or VS 2013, go get PTVS for your version. Then get a copy of Python. You can override that by adding your own web.config to the project, but then the burden is on you to configure it for your Python environment (which shouldn't be hard to do if you take the default config and tweak it). It doesn't really help you to install them other than directing you to the documentation page explaining what options are there and where to get them, but it's the one you use to see what you have, configure them, choose the one to use by default, open REPLs for them, and monitor progress when PTVS is refreshing code completion database.It doesn't (this functionality is not something that we get automatically - it'd have to be specifically implemented for Python).
